Along with man, all that he has created are being continuously evolving. This includes the houses, the tool, the vehicles so on and so forth. For example the Noah arks, which was the most ancient water craft mentioned in Bible has evolved into small personal boats. Along with the continuous evolution of man and his creation the level of danger has also risen. this is the very reason why man in modern day should take all precaution to protect himself and his property. One of the best way to do it is to purchase a good insurance policy. This way at least if any thing is damaged the insurance company will provide financial coverage towards the repair. In this article I will be talking about one such policy – the ski boat insurance policy.

Ski boats are basically high horse powered boats which are used to tow one or more water skiers across any water body. The boat is built in such a way that it can achieve high speeds within matter of time. These boats can also be used for personal use without have to tow skiers. The simplest policy available is the physical damage policy. This policy provides coverage if the boat is damaged due to accident or acts of vandalism. The second type of policy provides coverage if the damage is caused due to fire accidents. The third type of policy available is the third party liability policy, which protects the boat owner from being liable if the boat is involved in damaging third person property or injuring third person.

Once you have decided the type of policy which you need, it is time to go searching for a place where they offer cheaper quotes on ski boat insurance. The best place to start is the internet. There are a number of websites which provide a complete information on various ski boat insurance.
Longboard surfing is the best way to learn how to surf. This is not to say that you can’t learn on smaller surfboards such as a shortboard, but those boards will take much longer to learn on and amount to greater frustration along the way. Better to surf those boards later. Notice the title says the “Easier Way” not the “Easy Way”. That is because I don’t want to imply that simply using a longboard will make learning to surf easy.

Longboards are just more forgiving than other boards. People who just start surfing simply don’t have conditioned shoulders. Conditioning comes with time and paddling a longboard will be hard enough but still much easier than a shortboard.

Longboards are more stable. Although less maneuverable than other boards it’s the stability you want when you start out. This is especially true for performing the pop up and assuming the proper stance on the board. You can take more time getting to your feet (but still not too long) and also find foot placement a little more forgiving than other surfboards.

The gentle waves you will seek as a beginner are the perfect match for a longboard. The ideal beginners surf spot will have small, clean, slow breaking waves. Longboards are best under these conditions because they have maximum flotation and can catch these waves even when smaller boards can’t.

Many beginners want to go to the coolest looking boards which is usually a shortboard. This is a common mistake that usually only leads to frustration in the water. You want to to be catching some waves, even tiny ones, as soon as possible. The fun you get will keep you motivated and after enough time and practice you can switch to a smaller surfboard if you desire. You really want to start out by taking a lesson. The instructor will usually start you out on a soft top longboard which is ideal for learning the basics. The other alternative is to have a friend that you know can surf take you out and show you the ropes.

Because of the paddle, stability, and small wave catching ability, longboards are ideal for learning to surf. Surfing mainly just requires persistence and practice. Anybody can learn to surf with a longboard and enjoy catching waves.

Are surfing exercises really necessary? Most surfers are in pretty good shape, and surfing itself is a good workout. But did you know that there are five dimensions to surfing fitness? That’s five different types of exercises to help you get the most out of your precious time in the water. If you’re not addressing each of these, you’re allowing these problems to creep into your surf sessions:

* Fewer waves to ride, because it takes you too long to paddle out.

* Less quality on each wave you ride, because it’s too difficult to maneuver the board and your body.

* Overall shorter duration of your sessions, because you fatigue more quickly than you should.

* Increased risk of injury, because you’re forced to over-exert yourself or use improper form.

Until you’re serious about getting into top surfing condition, you won’t realize just how many waves you’re missing or what kind of moves you’re currently prevented from doing. Commit yourself to each of these five areas of surf fitness training to become the best surfer you can.

The Five Types of Surfing Exercises

1. Cardiovascular: while brute strength has its place in surf training, you also need to be able to endure long periods of exertion. You don’t want to be exhausted after just a few minutes of paddling. Running is the most common way of increasing cardiovascular fitness; try varying terrains and altitudes to help you get the most out of your workout.

2. Core stability: the importance of core strength for virtually all physical activity gets more and more attention everyday, and it’s no different with surfing. Almost all of your time is spent resisting the force of the water, so it’s critical for your abs and back muscles to be in good shape. Crunches, abdominal presses, planks, and bridges are good surfing exercises in this area.

3. Upper body: you use your chest and shoulders quite a bit while surfing, especially when paddling and when popping up to ride a wave. The bench press is probably the most popular upper body exercise, but other useful ones are lat pulldowns, tricep pulldowns, curls, and even simple pushups.

4. Flexibility/mobility: one of the most overlooked areas of fitness, and not just among surfers, is flexibility. Stretching will make you more flexible and mobile, which will allow you to accomplish more on your board. You can do simple stretching exercises almost anywhere, and yoga is an option for a more structured activity. Pretty much every muscle can benefit from stretching, including hamstrings, calves, pectorals, and the lower back.

5. Lower body/balance: strengthening your lower body will help you balance on your board and make more advanced moves. Properly working out your legs also will help you avoid injury to your ankles and knees. Examples of lower body surfing exercises are squats, lunges, hip abductions and adductions, and calf raises.

If you’re not improving your body in each of these five areas, surfing can still be enjoyable, but you’re selling yourself short. Don’t be afraid to spend more time in the water, ride more waves, and have more fun. Don’t let another surf season go to waste!

There can be few experiences on earth as thrilling as skiing. Yet, for too many people, the thrills end in spills and the dream holiday is marred by a sports injury. It is vital for skiers to have at least a basic understanding of sports injury prevention and sports first aid, should the worst happen.

Knee injuries are common in skiers because the knee is highly vulnerable due to the very nature of the ski experience. The foot and ankle is locked in the ski. So if there is a fall and the ski bindings do not release as they should, it is the knee joint that suffers as a result. Little wonder then that knee injuries account for about a quarter of all ski sports injuries. Although most will heal with time, knee support and physiotherapy, an unlucky few suffer a lasting injury and may not be able to ski ever again. The very worst scenario is a complete knee dislocation. However, the two most common ski injuries are meniscus tears and tears to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

For beginners and intermediate skiers, there is another risk of sports injury, which is tearing the medial collateral ligament (MCL), as the snowplough that beginners use to stop and turn puts undue pressure on the inside of the knee. If this should happen, a knee brace can be of great benefit to help alleviate further sports injury.

In more advanced skiers, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are more likely to occur. This is mainly down to bad falls and nasty twists whilst falling. To help avoid the risk of these, it is always wise to aim to keep your knees flexed, even if you feel you are about to fall and always aim to fall forwards, not backwards, as this is more dangerous for your knees. Also, be especially careful if you make a jump that you do not fall backwards on landing. ACL injuries are a real hazard for professional skiers and can threaten their careers.

For some reason, women seem to be at even greater risk of ACL injuries, although it is not really understood why. It is hypothesised that it may be related to female hormone levels and their impact on ligament strength, so women may find especial benefit from knee supports to provide extra stability. Sometimes the phenomenon that can cause damage to the ACL is called ‘the phantom foot’. This refers to the tail of the downward ski combining with the immobile ski boot to act as a lever that then applies a twisting force to the knee joint.

It goes without saying that you must pay great attention to your ski bindings to make sure that they will release in the event of a fall, minimising the risk of knee injuries. Also, a very simple but effective common sense tip is to always avoid ski-ing when you are tired as evidence shows accidents are much more common at the end of the day.

So wise up and keep your knees safe on the slopes this year! Gemma Davison is Co-Owner of Firstaid4port, an online supplier of first aid, rehabilitation products and physiotherapy products. Firstaid4sport stock a range of knee supports in particular skiing knee supports.

Heading off to the ski slopes for the first time? If you’ve never been skiing before, it can be hard to know what exactly you need to take with you. Quite often your friends don’t help much, because they’ll all tell you different things and you’ll end up completely confused! But before you give up and decide it’s just too hard, here are some essential ski accessories that you should take skiing with you.

Backpack. When you’re first learning to ski, it can seem difficult enough to balance yourself, without adding a backpack into the equation! But one thing’s for certain – if something goes wrong when you’re on the slopes, your backpack can be a lifesaver. Make sure it contains a few emergency supplies, and also some extra clothing.

Hat. In case you’ve forgotten, snow is cold. So if you’re going to be on the slopes all day, chances are you’re going to get cold too! A hat has been shown to keep you between 5% and 15% warmer than not wearing one – so wear a warm one! Goggles or Sunglasses. The glare from gleaming white snow can be very hard to handle without goggles or sunglasses. Also, the UV rays can be up to 40% stronger on ski slopes, and you risk potential damage to your eyes if you don’t protect them. Plus goggles will make life much more comfortable when you’re whizzing down the slopes with snow blowing in your face!

Ski equipment. Okay, that sounds a little obvious! But make sure you have bought or rented all the equipment you need. You don’t want to reach the slope only to discover you forgot the ski poles. Skis, poles and boots are a good start, but add in suitable snow gear if you don’t have any of your own.

Sunscreen and lip balm. Anybody would think you’re heading for the beach! But because of the tough conditions on the ski slopes, you will find these two things essential. A minimum of SPF 15 is required for the sunscreen, and even higher would be better.

This list contains many of the things you need to enjoy your ski experience, but there are always other things that can help out too. Look after yourself, and you’ll have a much better time on your first ski trip. For more information on the essential ski equipment needed to enjoy your ski trip please visit www.freestyle-skiing.info where you will find ski related tips, advice and resources to include information on how to choose your skis and how to properly care for your skis.
